New Elementary School Opens

In Gonzales county, the population is 18,628, with a town population of 7,202. In January, a new Gonzales Elementary School located at 1606 St. Andrew Street opened its doors for students in grades two, three, and four. Additionally, new street signs with “Historic District” medallions were placed at intersections in the inner town, spanning forty-nine blocks, by the Historic Homes Association and City. The Fellowship Hall was added to the south of the Methodist Church, and a spire was also installed. On April 14, Norwest Bank Texas, NA changed its name to Wells Fargo Bank Texas, NA. Lastly, a Buc-ee’s convenience store and fuel station was built at the intersection of Highway 183/Water Street and Highway 90-A/Sarah DeWitt Drive.
