1925, Frank Vrazel House

Detailed Information

Frank Vrazel was born July 30, 1868, in Moravia, Austria. He came to America at age seven and moved to Gonzales, Texas, in 1900. In 1903 he bought the D.S.H. Darst Gin, located just east of the house, and operated it until his death. Frank married Emilie A. Templin December 25, 1895, and had three daughters.

Emilie, born February 16, 1877, in High Hill, Fayette County, Texas, was the daughter of Otto and Freda Mahler Templin from Germany. Neighbors remembered that Emilie kept milk cows in the back yard and people bought milk and butter from her.

A small cottage was built about 1906. In the mid 1920’s it was torn down and the current house was built in 1925.

Frank died March 8, 1935, and Emilie died December 14, 1950. They are buried in the Gonzales I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
