In March, the Covid-19 Pandemic affects Gonzales County and the entire country. On March 17th, by order of the governor, all non-essential businesses are closed and face masks in public are encouraged. In April, the Gonzales Public Library building at 415 St. Matthew Street (Block 26) that had been dedicated on April 17, 1972, was razed. It was structurally unsound and the library proper had moved to the Wells Fargo Bank Building (see 2017). On April 25th, City pronounces that all must wear masks in public areas. Count on April 28 is: 18 total cases in county, 2 of those resulted in deaths. The Come and Take It Celebration was cancelled as a result.
