The Church Street Cemetery for African-Americans was closed and a new section of Gonzales Memorial Cemetery opened to this community. The Noon Lions Club built a disc golf course on East Avenue near Kerr Creek. The healthcare system in Gonzales expanded with the completion of a 33,000 square foot expansion to Memorial Hospital. The J.B. Wells Expo Center opened at J.B. Wells Park, providing a new venue for events and gatherings in the area.
